Missed the writing...

I was so caught up in writing and editing, I completely forgot I should have updated my blog.

Last night was pretty hectic. Sent out some query letters after receiving a rejection from a top agent. She was really nice about it though. Aren't they all?

A knot forms in my stomach whenever I get the rejection letter. Despair takes over and suddenly I feel like I should give up. Then fifteen minutes later, I get motivated to never give up.

Who knows if I'll ever get published, but I refuse to let that stop me. Until I can, I will.

And then there's Amazon. My best friend.

self publishing thoughts

i've talked about my anxiety whenever i send out query letters. maybe it's just my personality, but it's the most stressful thing i can do. writing a novel is a piece of cake. it's the querying that gets me on edge.

literary agents have their hands full. i sympathize with them on many levels. imagine being swamped with work and eagerly looking for that one book that defines your career. it's stressful, no doubt.

which brings me to my back up plan. i have always said i love telling stories. i'm definitely not the best at it...mediocre would even be too much, but i just love telling stories. it doesn't matter who's listening or not, i like to let my imagination run wild. so whether someone is interested in publishing my book or not, i am relieved to see the world of self publishing gain momentum. it's anyone's game.

and with that door open, there is always hope for someone like me.

took a break from writing...

if anyone has ever had writers block, it should come as no surprise to hear that i needed a break from the internet. my mind was over worked and exhausted.

running through some sites and reading what literary agents are asking for is overwhelming. some say they aren't accepting, but their dates for being open to submissions is nearing again, so i'm rushing to finish up.

my new project, complete and revised is a middle grade novel. it's a multicultural story about a little cobra (interesting huh?), multicultural stories are lacking in the children's department. not many stories in foreign countries for younger children...

i hope someone is eager to read my story .... it's a lovely tale of triumph and heartache.

wish me luck!

there's a central theme in our lives

one central theme in every person's life is love. it starts when we're little babies. we look for it in our mother's eyes' and her smile. when she cradles us in her arms, we're excited at the sensation of security and comfort it gives.

as we get older, we look for it in others. we seek it out from any corner of the world. we pray for it, cry over it, and chase after it. the most innocent love is of a child's. then as teenagers, we are even more vulnerable, more ready and eager to love.

when we lose it, we have the most difficult time in the world recovering. how many loves can a person have in one lifetime?

is there a limit to how many times you can fall in love? does love know an end?

What is a Nagin?

Legend in India says that cobra snakes can change into humans. This tradition comes down from ancient history in the Hindu religion.

Some please claim to have seen snakes transforming and walking away as humans. The movies have tackled this interesting issue also. Most Nagins are considered to be extraordinarily beautiful and powerful.

Do you think it's possible?

Have you ever seen a cobra face to face?

Another one....

I am currently working on my fourth novel, another Young Adult story.

It is a historical romance set in modern times AND the past. I hope I can complete it and have it edited in a few weeks.

What elements are included in it?

Think civil war, slavery, romance, hot summer days and cool windy nights, open corn fields and lots of free time!
